Welcome to the Carmel-Cay neighborhood!
The Carmel-Clay Township area serves as a northern suburb of Indianapolis. It has, in recent years, grown rapidly and become a self-supporting community of significant commercial, industrial, and residential importance.
Clay Township, covering 50 square miles of mixed use
property, is bounded on the south by Marion County (96th
Street), the west by Boone County (Michigan Road), the east by White
River, and the north by 146th Street. The City of Carmel
is located in the east central portion of Clay Township and has been the
largest center of population throughout the township’s long history.
Carmel Clay Schools is a
state and nationally recognized public school district, with a projected
student enrollment for the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year of
14,300.
About 90 percent of Carmel High graduates pursue education or training beyond high school. The school's average SAT score of 1,114 exceeds the state average by 102 points.
Born of grassroots citizen efforts in the mid-1980s, the Monon Trail is one of the Midwest's most popular trails. The Monon Greenway in Carmel connects Hamilton County with Marion County. Restrooms, water and parking are available at 96th Street and Rohrer Road trailheads. Plenty of services are available near the downtown Carmel area including cafes, bike shops and playgrounds.
